Option 2

Google Chrome: add it manually.

The Chrome Web Store listing is not available yet, so Chrome users can add the extension manually. It takes about two minutes and works the same way in other Chromium browsers such as Brave.

Download the extension (ZIP)↓

1

Download the extension ZIP

Click the download button above and save idm-extension.zip to your computer (for example, your Downloads folder).

2

Extract the ZIP file

Right-click idm-extension.zip and choose Extract All…, then click Extract. You now have a folder named idm-extension. It must contain manifest.json — that is how you know it is the right folder. Keep this folder in a permanent place (do not delete it), because Chrome loads the extension from it.

3

Open the Chrome Extensions page

Open Google Chrome, type chrome://extensions in the address bar, and press Enter.

Internet Download Manager Integration

Version 1.5.75 · Sends browser downloads to the Internet Download Manager desktop app.

🧩 Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar, then click the pin next to Internet Download Manager Integration.
Good to know: the extension works together with the desktop app, so keep Internet Download Manager for Windows installed. If you move or delete the extracted folder, Chrome will disable the extension — extract it again and repeat steps 3–6. The same manual steps also work in Brave and other Chromium-based browsers.

Don't have the desktop app yet?

The extension needs the free Windows app to download your files.
